Our signature kava drinks and ethnobotanical teas can be energizing, relaxing, promote pain relief, and encourage a euphoric mood. They are also conducive to creating deep human connections.
We offer a new kind of bar without the hangover, that fosters a new kind of community, one that’s deeply nourishing even on your hardest days. Whether you’re hanging out with old friends, making new ones or both, Roots & Leaves is a social gathering place bringing people together. Experience community with help from subtle but powerful herbs. That’s what we call kava culture.
Originating from the South Pacific, kava is a plant referred to as “intoxicating pepper” by islanders. The root of this Polynesian plant is ground up and made into a tea. Kava root tea is creating a buzz because it’s a powerful relaxant and is mildly intoxicating. When it comes to alcohol alternative drinks, kava steals the show.
We offer teas from around the world with a variety of uses. Our house teas are a cultural staple in Southeast Asia. The leaves of this tropical evergreen are used to make a potent tea. These teas have unique effects depending on the stage when they are harvested.
If you’ve never tried it before, start slow as everyone has a slightly different experience. Come in for a taste of our signature tea blends.
We started with the vision of spreading kava culture throughout the world. We know that “having a shell” is more than having a drink. It’s an act of slowing down—and when you slow down, deep relationships are cultivated. Where there is kava, there is community. Kava culture is community culture.
In community culture, you can rely on those around you for support and understanding. You explore each other through stimulating conversations while creating memories. This is where you’re accepted as you are and encouraged to be yourself. Yes, kava is for everyone.
We’ve reached major goals by opening and expanding to many locations since the beginning of Covid. We offer a growing lineup of exciting events. Watch for much more to come.
We’re a hub for community engagement and self-expression, offering herbal drinks and providing a platform for a new type of community.
Pacific Islanders call kava "awa" which directly translates to "the intoxicating pepper."
